Governor Expected to Make Major Storm Recovery Announcement

Governor Christie is expected to make a major announcement today on the six-month anniversary of Superstorm Sandy.

According to the Star Ledger, he'll share the news live from Seaside Heights with his wife Mary Pat on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and Ginjer Doherty, a 9-year-old girl Christie has struck up a friendship with following Sandy.

There's speculation he'll announce that the state has received federal approval on a plan to spend $1.8 billion dollars in relief funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

New York's funding was approved on Friday.

"We'll probably have something shortly to say about New Jersey," HUD spokesman Brian Sullivan told the Star Ledger  "I'm not going to trump the state of New Jersey nor our own folks. Stay tuned."
