Ron Filepp, whom I worked with in radio both at WBJB-FM "The radio voice of Brookdale Community College" and again at WRLB in Long Branch, was killed Friday afternoon in a hit and run while riding his bicycle in Tabernacle. Ron was a very caring community oriented guy who wrote a weather column in the Roosevelt Borough bulletin and lived just a few doors away from me. Unfortunately our lives had taken different paths and we didn't get to see each other, but I did learn a lot about radio from him when I was starting out. I'll always remember him as a great guy.

Ron is the second person in my life to be taken while riding a bike. My cousin Jon was hit by a distracted driver in 2014.

While we don't know exactly what the circumstances are, we do know that it's more dangerous than ever to be riding a bike on the roads of New Jersey. So as they say, let's be careful out there!
