Environmental officials continue to try and contain a large diesel fuel spill in southern New Jersey.

The spill was discovered Thursday morning at an NJ Transit facility in Washington Township, Gloucester County. Officials estimated about 26,000 gallons of fuel leaked into area water bodies.

By noon Friday, the state Department of Environmental Protection says there has been no impact to the Delaware River or to Big Timber Creek downstream. It says the spill has been contained to Lebanon Run, Grenloch Lake and Blackwood Lake.

Workers have used containment booms and vacuum trucks to stop the spill from spreading.

The state DEP says no municipal water supplies have been affected but that some wildlife have been affected.
