Two children in Lakewood remain in critical but stable condition after being hit by a car as they crossed a street.

The 2 and 8 year old kids were crossing Cushman Street at Route 9 with their mother yesterday afternoon when a 20-year-old was turning right, striking the two. The mother wasn't injured. The 2-year-old was in a stroller.

Police are also looking for a man who was using a jack to lift the 2012 Honda Accord off the children which helped first responders get them out from under the car according to the Asbury Park Press.

The driver, who is five months pregnant, was not injured but taken to Kimball Medical Center as a precaution according to the Asbury Park Press.   She was  charged with reckless driving.
