There were two accidents on Route 287 at the start of the Monday morning commute, closing the road for a time in Morris County.

New Jersey State Police at the Netcong station said officers responded to two accidents around 5 a.m. in the area of the southbound "S" curve between exit 37 for Route 24 and exit 36 Morris Ave in the Hanover area.

As of 6:30 a.m., all southbound lanes remained shut down approaching Exit 36. UPDATE: By 7 a.m., the road had reopened.

Icy road were reported in the area by the New Jersey Department of Transportation but State Police were not sure what exactly caused the accidents. Troopers did not call for a salt truck to treat the road.

New Jersey Fast Traffic' Bob Williams said you "certainly have to be careful of your speed" though that area and said the area often has poor drainage. "It stands to reason that slippery roads could have been a factor in the accident."
