There seems to be an endless list of apps that are available for smartphone users. Whether you're on Team Apple, Team Droid or Team something less relevant, there are a lot of options upon entering your app store. While it does seem like we depend on a lot of apps, the numbers in a TIME article took me by surprise.

According to the article, 65% of smartphone users don’t download any apps in a given month. Studies also found that 42% of time spent on apps occurs on the individual’s single most used app.

I have a total of 49 apps on my iPhone. After counting for the sake of this post, that sounds like way too much. I use roughly half of them throughout any given month, but I do download new apps quite often. Usually it's just for the sake of trying something new or trying an alternative to something my phone already has. For example, I find Apple Maps to be a horrific GPS. I downloaded Google Maps which turned out to be way better. But now I use Waze, which I find to be the best GPS app out there.

What are your favorite apps? What apps do you find to be the most useful? Let us know in the comment section below.
