Sometimes, a good deed can go a long way. One New Hampshire woman learned this lesson, after performing a random act of kindness at her job.

Sarah Hoidahl, a waitress and bartender, was serving two soldiers who had been affected by the government shutdown. She knew that the soldiers were trying to watch their money because they were not getting paid, and decided to pay for their lunch. Sarah generously paid $27.75 for their meal, and left work only making $8.00 that day. The soldiers posted her random act of kindness on Facebook, and it spread like wildfire.

Sarah's generosity did not go unnoticed; Ellen DeGeneres heard about her good deed, and invited her on her show. Little did Sarah know that Ellen was going to pay her back for the meal she bought, and then some! Sarah walked away from The Ellen Show with a brand new 50 inch TV, and $10,000. You never know when a little act of kindness can go a long way.
