In the heart of Asbury Park, a familiar corner is about to become a beacon of hope.

Through Mercy Center's Under One Roof Capital Campaign, the former Walgreens building on Main Street, once a place of daily convenience, will soon be transformed into something far more powerful: a centralized home for Mercy Center’s mission to uplift, empower, and end generational poverty in the community.

For years, Mercy Center has served women, children, and families in need—offering food, education, counseling, and compassionate support. But as the programs have grown, so has the need for space, efficiency, and a unified vision.

Now, with the purchase of this prominent and accessible property, leaders have the chance to bring everything Under One Roof:

  • A new and greatly expanded food pantry, stocked with fresh, healthy options to meet the growing demand for nutrition and dignity.
  • A comprehensive Family Resource Center, where families can access case management, counseling, and support services all in one welcoming space.
  • Administrative offices that will allow their team to operate more efficiently and collaborate more effectively to serve their neighbors.
  • And a community café that will have something for everyone

This isn’t just about bricks and mortar. This is about mission and movement.

By bringing their services together, Mercy Center eliminates barriers—transportation, confusion, fragmentation—and replaces them with connection, dignity, and opportunity. Every square foot of this building will be dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and helping families build a better future.

Mercy Center calls this campaign Under One Roof, because they believe that by standing together, staff, supporters, families, volunteers, and neighbors, they can do more than help people survive. They can help them thrive.

But they can’t do it alone.

They invite you to be part of this transformative journey. Your support will help renovate this space, expand their reach, and bring lasting hope to generations of families in Asbury Park and beyond.

Together, we can build more than a building. We can build a future.
