Forty-three-year-old Anthony Soward of Willow Springs remained hospitalized Monday night in stable condition. But further details on his injuries were not disclosed.

Four animals inside the horse trailer -- a donkey and three horses -- suffered minor injuries and were being treated by veterinarians.

The crash occurred around 5:15 a.m. Monday in Robbinsville, just south of Exit 7A. It shut down southbound lanes there for more than five hours.

Authorities say the collision caused the pickup to crash into another tractor-trailer in front of it. The two tractor-trailer drivers sustained minor injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
