Brick Township Police Chief Nils Berquist says the truck and bike were both traveling west on Route 88. When the truck, driven by 49-year-old James Southrey of Mantua Township turned right, his cab hit the cyclist, who was riding on the shoulder.

The truck's rear wheels then hit the biker.

Authorities have not released the name of the 48-year-old rider, but say he lived in Point Pleasant.
