The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is warning residents to be on the lookout for a new email phishing scam that asks consumers to give their credit card, debit card and pin number so it can be checked to see if any accounts were affected in the breach.

People are actually falling for it according to Detective Mark Malinowski.

He said it's "a big red flag," when companies ask for personal information over email because most companies have strict policies against communicating with customers, and most would never send out an unsolicited email asking for private information.

Several banks are urging people to change their debit cards if they used them at Target stores from Black Friday through Dec. 15.
