Two from NJ have been arrested on both misdemeanor and felony charges following a recent phone scam where they demanded more than $25,000 from local residents.
A caller who identified himself as a U.S. Marshal with Border Patrol in Texas informed the victim he would need to verify his identity, or else an arrest warrant would be issued and the victim's bank accounts would be frozen.
There is another scam New Jersey consumers are being warned about. This one involves con artists who falsely claim to represent the State Attorney General's office and call unsuspecting victims to demand immediate payment of a non-existent debt.
