Student came to South Jersey school with ‘kill list,’ police say

LINWOOD — A South Jersey teen was questioned after several students heard him talk about having a "kill list" at his school.

Linwood Police said the Mainland High School student talked about wanting to gas-bomb the school and was removed from class by staff and taken to police headquarters for questioning. His parents were present for questioning, according to police.

The Press of Atlantic City reported parents were notified via telephone about the potential threat to the "safety and security of the school,” but the school was not put on a lockdown.

Linwood police are investigating with the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office and would not disclose additional details about the case.

About 1,356 students from Linwood, Northfield and Somers Point attend the school.

Earlier this month, three South Jersey students were charged with perpetuating a social media threat hoax at Absegami High School in Galloway. Last month, a teen was charged charged with making threats against Linden High School on Instagram. There was also a social media threat posted against a middle school in Hamilton in Mercer County.
