Vincent Council added 13 points and seven assists in his last home game for the Friars (17-12, 9-8 Big East).

The Pirates (14-16, 3-14) entered the second half trailing 43-36 and were never able to make much of a dent in the deficit. Seton Hall came within five with eight minutes remaining, but a 12-3 Providence run over the next three minutes gave the Friars a comfortable advantage for the rest of the game.

Despite strong shooting from outside the 3-point line by the Pirates, who nailed 8 out of 18 attempts, Bryce Cotton and LaDontae Henton scored 15 points apiece to keep the Friars out in front. Henton also had 10 rebounds.

Fuquan Edwin led Seton Hall with 15 points.
