Hansel and Gretel came to the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter as older kittens from a rescue where they had very little socialization, and did not trust anyone. Thankfully, a wonderful volunteer stepped up to foster these two siblings, where they have now been for months. Their foster mom said it has been a joy to see Hansel and Gretel grow and learn what human love is all about.

Hansel and Gretel are always up to the most adorable, playful antics and they are just delightful! Gretel is the leader and she likes to roll over for a chin scratch. She is a delicate, dilute calico girl who is so trusting and affectionate. Hansel is still a bit shy and waits for Gretel to lead him. Once he gets comfortable, he enjoys being petted. He is a handsome, grey tiger with gorgeous, soulful eyes.

Hansel and Gretel are bonded so we are looking for a special family that will adopt both of them. They both get along well with other cats and cat-friendly dogs. They love the other pets in their foster home.

If you're interested in meeting Hansel and Gretel or adopting them, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call us at 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Mikey is a happy young Labrador retriever and American Staffordshire Terrier mix at the Ewing Animal Shelter. He likes to play and go on walks, but needs some training on manners and patience like any young dog does. Mikey lacks focus when there is a distraction, but he’s very smart and knows how to listen. He will sit patiently when his leash is being put on so that he can go on a walk. He’s extremely friendly and loves to shower affection on people!

If you’re interested in learning more about Mikey or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Faithy

Faithy is a cute, sweet little girl who came to the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter as a stray dog. A wonderful couple saw Faithy at the shelter, fell in love with her and decided to foster her. For six months, they worked with her and got her ready for her forever family. Faithy is crate trained, curious and very calm when meeting new people. She is a little excited in the beginning of her walk, but in just a few minutes, she calms right down and is a wonderful walker. She also does very well in familiar places, running alongside a bicycle like a true champion.

Faithy is polite and sits before she eats. She also gently takes treats and her favorite treat is American cheese. She loves to play with any toys or balls, and will roll around in the grass and scratch herself along the entire length of the fence. And, she just loves to play in leaf piles!

A quiet home with a fenced-in yard would allow her to be the best companion that you could ever want. She would do well with another calm, submissive dog. Time, patience and especially love will bring out her full potential. She is spayed, vaccinated, house-trained and absolutely ready for a new home.
