Dozens of firefighters battled a multi-alarm blaze that severely damaged a multiuse building in northern New Jersey.

One woman was injured in the fast-moving fire in North Bergen, which broke out around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters pulled her from the building and took her to a hospital, but her injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Two other nearby multiuse buildings were also damaged by the fire, which displaced about a dozen families. And two firefighters were treated for undisclosed minor injuries.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze by 4 p.m. and continued to hit hot spots early Wednesday night. Officials said several firefighters would remain on scene overnight as a precaution until demolition crews arrived Thursday.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
