On Wednesday, I traveled to New York City to see "Phantom of the Opera" in New York City. I am ashamed to say I was disappointed. Considering the production has been on Broadway for about 25 years now as the longest-running show, I must be wrong here.

Thank the Lord I saw the "Phantom" movie a few years ago. Without that, I would have been completely lost during the production. The sound quality was poor, and my ears did not have the ability to pick up on the accents. Plus, there are some parts of a story that should be told through speech - not song!

I must admit; I take for granted the spectacular costume and set design, as well as the music and lyrics. I guess it's just something I expect when I see a show on Broadway.

Townsquare's Joe Cutter has seen the show close to 20 times. This shocks me.
