Hundreds of people gathered at a northern New Jersey church for the funeral of a Marine from Bergen County who was killed in combat operations in Afghanistan.

The service for 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Osbrany Montes De Oca was held Monday morning in Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, located in his hometown of North Arlington.

He was killed Feb. 10 in the Helmand province, just ten days after having been promoted. Family members say Montes De Oca had joined the Marine Corps with his twin brother Osmany in December 2010.

Montes De Oca was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force that was based at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

Gov. Chris Christie ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in his memory.
