No Victim Names on 2nd NJ 9/11 Memorial Marker

Two plaques at the Mercer County, N.J., 9/11 memorial feature the names of politicians and volunteers but not those of local victims of Sept. 11.

County officials say they discussed including the names of county victims -- there were at least 27 -- but instead paid tribute to "the nearly 3,000 victims of that tragic day," as one plaque reads.

Marie Calandra of Trenton lost a cousin on 9/11. She told The Times of Trenton she thinks names of the dead should be added.

County Executive Brian Hughes, whose name is on one plaque, says the county will revisit the issue if there are protests. Washington Township in Warren County removed its 9/11 memorial stone after protests. It listed only the names of elected officials and didn't even mention the events of 9/11.
