NJ woman bites, spits on cops during arrest, police say

NORTH WILDWOOD — A 43-year-old woman was charged with aggravated assault after kicking, biting and spitting on police officers and a firefighter as they attempted to take her into custody on Thanksgiving.

Elizabeth Sanders of Villas was arrested Nov. 17 after North Wildwood police responded to Walnut and Olde Jersey avenues at 8:43 p.m. for a report of a disorderly female. Arriving officers found the woman, later identified as Sanders, on East 2nd Avenue. According to a statement from police, as officers took the woman into custody, she allegedly kicked two of the officers in the leg and groin. She then allegedly bit one of the cops on his hand and then bit one of the North Wildwood firefighters who also responded to the scene.

As Sanders continued to resist arrest, police say she also spit on two police officers and a firefighter.

Sanders was charged two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count of aggravated assault on a firefighter. She was also charged with three counts of "throwing bodily fluid" and one count of resisting arrest, police said Monday. Sanders was transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center on $15,000 full cash bail.
