A man who used $1,100 worth of counterfeit money to pay for a car is wanted by New Jersey State Police.

The suspect used 11 fake bills to buy a 1997 Dodge Intrepid that he saw in a Craigslist ad at a private home in Oldmans Township last Thursday according. to State Police on their Facebook police. After the sale was done, the seller noticed the bills all had the same serial number and called police.

Police released pictures of the man at a Wawa in Logan Township where he tried to pass a fake $100 bill before heading off to buy the car. A witness told police the suspect was driving a gold Pontiac Grand Am. Anyone with information about the suspect should call State Police at 856-769-0775.

State Police advise that when completing a cash sale, do it in an public location and be sure to inspect the bills. If something doesn't seem right, cancel the transaction and call police.
