NJ Offering Child-Support Amnesty
New Jersey is offering a weeklong amnesty to parents who are behind in child support payments.
Those who have arrest warrants or have had their driving privileges revoked can visit county probation offices to make a payment or work out a payment plan between April 28 and May 3.
State officials say they'll work to come up with a settlement agreement regarding a lump sum payment, future payments and ongoing payments, and payments toward arrears. When a settlement is reached, a court order will be drafted to include the agreement as well as discharge the warrant and release the child support license suspension.
New Jersey last offered a child support amnesty program in 2004.
