Bergen County authorities have charged a 23-year-old Hackensack man with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of the child for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Santos Alberto Gergorio-Lopez was arrested following an investigation by the BCPO Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department.

Authorities say Gregorio-Lopez allegedly had sexual intercourse on multiple occasions with the minor. On March 25 police learned that the 15-year-old girl was engaging in sexual intercourse with Gregorio-Lopez while in Hackensack.

The teen was interviewed at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and revealed to authorities that over the past few months, she and Gregorio-Lopez had sex on three different occasions.

Gregorio-Lopez was arrested and charged with second degree sexual assault and third degree endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held at Bergen County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, authorities said. His first court appearance in scheduled for March 30 in Hackensack Municipal Court.
