NJ Leaders Condemn Spate of Anti-Jewish Attacks

Religious and elected leaders in northern New Jersey are continuing an inter-faith display of unity in the face of recent attacks on local Jewish institutions.

A letter signed by more than two dozen lawmakers, community and religious leaders was released Monday to coincide with the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Those who signed the statement are calling for unity in the wake of what police have classified as bias-motivated attacks.

Many leaders also attended an interfaith service Sunday in solidarity with a Rutherford synagogue and rabbi's living quarters which were hit with Molotov cocktails Wednesday in an incident police have classified as a hate crime.

Federal, county and local officials continue to investigate who may be behind the attack as well as other recent acts of vandalism.
