I don’t want to come across as an Ebenezer Scrooge here, but we have to address something that has been going on in New Jersey over the past week.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has noticed it, and I’d be shocked if I’m the only one bothered by it.

It’s something that is loud, obnoxious, and quite frankly, selfish.

What am I going full on “Karen” about?

People need to stop setting off fireworks after July 4

At a backyard party over the weekend, it was barely past 4 p.m. when we started hearing the loud booms of someone nearby lighting up fireworks.

It was well past the Fourth of July, and it wasn’t even dark enough for anyone to see or appreciate them. Let’s take a seat and ask “what are we doing here?”

For what and for whom are you doing this when it’s completely unenjoyable?

Not to mention how much it affects pets. People expect to calm down their "fur babies" on Independence Day, but on a random afternoon? You’re really throwing everyone a curveball.

If you’re one of those people who are still setting off random fireworks in the month of July after the Fourth, in my opinion, you’re selfish.

You’re not thinking of veterans, those with small children, those of us (like me) who are easily startled or pet owners, all of whom would be affected by you setting off loud explosions for your own "enjoyment" when they’re unexpected.

Eh, you know what? Maybe I am being a Scrooge about this, but I stand by it… Humbug.
