Hey, New Jersey – there’s a brighter future within reach!

Community solar makes clean energy affordable and accessible for everyone. Instead of installing your own solar, you can subscribe to a local shared solar project – supporting clean energy and saving money on your electricity bill. This is especially important for low-wealth communities and communities of color — which would benefit greatly from the cost-savings and pollution reduction but for which rooftop solar can be inaccessible.

New Jersey's Community Solar Program is already a national leader in the fight to make clean energy equitable and accessible for all, but pending legislation would strengthen the program and make it easier for low-income subscribers to benefit from clean energy.

That bill, A4782/S3123, is waiting for a floor vote in the Assembly. It was passed out of the Environment and Solid Waste Committee in June but didn’t make it to the full floor before summer break.
