New Jersey drivers were headed into a slow, slushy commute Monday morning.

While bright sunshine helped make it easier for plows to get highways down to blacktop early Sunday, many local roads remained at least partially blocked by snow. And commuters were still facing speed restrictions and lane blockages on some major roads as snow removal continued.

Among the issues on major roads as of 7:10 a.m.:

• A lane was blocked on the Garden State Parkway exit to Route 78 in Union Township for snow removal.
• The right lane of Route 22 was closed for snow removal east of West Gray Street in North Plainfield
• Speed restrictions were in effect on the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge in both directions from the New Jersey side in Palmyra to the Pennsylvania side in Philadelphia, taking motorists to 25 mph. The walkway was closed until further notice.
• There's a speed restriction on the Burlington Bristol Bridge in both directions from New Jersey Side in Burlington to Pennsylvania Side in Bristol, also at 25 mph

Meteorologist Dan Zarrow warns New Jersey's in store for some icy roads this morning:

"Although yesterday’s bright sunshine kickstarted the melting process, temperatures this morning fell into the single digits and teens across most of the state," he wrote in his daily weather blog Monday. "With such a hard freeze, any puddles and slush have likely frozen to a sheet of solid ice this morning. That will make walking and driving potentially treacherous for much of today, even on shoveled and plowed surfaces."

In addition, NJ Transit had resumed most service Monday — but the Gladstone branch of the Morris & Essex line was shut down, and both trains and buses were seeing delays Monday morning.
