"Plug It In: Advancing Electric Vehicle Adoption in New Jersey" will be held at the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority.

Jim Mahlman, of Netcetera in Brick, said this is a trial balloon to gauge local interest.

"There's a lot of awareness that has to be brought forward. That's the main reason why they're getting together," he said. "That and the state wants to see whether they do want to start doing this kind of stuff."

As an example, Mahlman says many people in New Jersey, even those who support electric vehicle adoption, are not aware of the number and location of charging stations around the state.

He said it's a way for officials to get info about infrastructure planning for electric vehicles. Decision-makers will put their heads together about what is down the road.
