Spokesman Joe Pentangelo says 36-year-old Eric Delman Vega was heading into the Holland Tunnel on Thursday when he was stopped for having shaded license plate covers.

Port Authority Officer Michael Gerbasio recognized Vega as a suspect in a 2013 murder and detained him.

The Union County prosecutor's office says Vega has been charged with murder and weapons offenses and is being held on $2 million bail.

Another suspect turned himself in earlier this week and is charged with hindering and evidence tampering.
