Thirty-six-year-old Antonio Figueroa was convicted last year of conspiracy and depriving others of their civil rights.

Three other former officers pleaded guilty in the case. All of them testified against Figueroa and still await sentencing.

The sentence handed down Friday by U.S. Judge Robert Kugler was the maximum he could give even after the Camden native's lawyer asked for leniency.

Kugler also denied Figueroa bail, saying he was a flight risk.

In 2009 and 2010, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office dropped charges in 210 cases in which some or all of the officers were involved.
