The iPad is a piece of equipment that I have been on the fence about trying out, but that will change this week.

My mom is buying me an iPad2 as an early with Christmas present that will hopefully be arriving this week.  I'll be honest that I did not have the slightest urge to own a tablet when they came on the market.

I already own an iPhone and just bought a new laptop earlier this year.  Between those two items, I was more than set with my internet viewing and social media capabilities, etc.

However, the last several months, many people I know have purchased the iPad and I've grown more fond of them.

The capabilities of it are astounding, and especially, when relaxing.  For my job, keeping tabs on news is absolutely vital.  So being able to jump on the web real quick without a bulky laptop while I am unwinding has gained appeal for me.

My mom graciously kept saying she wanted to get me because she thought it would be very helpful for my job, but I kept saying it is not really an item I need.

While I still do not NEED it, it is actually something I am anxiously awaiting for to arrive.

The final selling point is the whole Apple cloud setup and being able to transfer music and pictures between all the devices with your "cloud."  I saw it recently on my brother's iPad, and the whole concept is really cool.

I am ready to enter the world of tablets, and I am very curious if it will end up replacing much of my time on my laptop.
