A concert promoter and his son are back home in New Jersey, nearly two months after they were detained in Angola after a recording artist failed to appear at two New Year's concerts in the African nation.

Morris Township resident Patrick Allocco and his son, also named Patrick, were greeted by family and friends when they arrived around 3:45 p.m. Saturday at Newark Liberty International Airport.

They were detained Dec. 31 after rap star Nas and opening act Jemiah Jai didn't appear for the shows. That angered an Angolan promoter who had fronted $400,000 for the concerts.

The Alloccos were not allowed to leave the country until they negotiated a deal with the promoter. Meanwhile, Angolan government officials were debating whether to press fraud charges against

them.
