HILLSBOROUGH — A couple and their 13-year-old daughter have been identified as the three victims of a firethat tore through part of an apartment complex in this Somerset County township Monday evening.

The family lived in a second floor apartment, which firefighters were unable to immediately enter because it was engulfed in flames when they arrived 9:52 p.m. at the Hillsborough Garden Apartments on Farm Road.

The state Regional Medical Examiner’s Office worked with a forensic odonatologist to identify the bodies, which had been badly burned.

Vinod B. Damodaran, 44, his wife Sreeja Thekkekoical-Sasi, 38, and daughter and Aardra V. Nair were identified Friday as the victims, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

The cause of the fire as well as the cause and manner of the deaths remains under investigation.
