Christie Wants Gay Marriage To Be Decided By Ballot [VIDEO]

Governor Chris Christie would ultimately like the issue of gay marriage to be decided by New Jersey residents via a ballot question and thinks a federal government shutdown would be " failure."

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning's Tracy Smith recorded before a state court legalized gay marriage in New Jersey on Friday, Christie reaffirmed that he does not believe in same-sex marriage.  “I understand that good people of good will have a difference of opinion on this. My view on it is, put it on the ballot,” said Christie

Christie thinks that it would be a failure if the federal government shuts down on Tuesday. “You’ve got to work it out," said the Republican.s

As for his own political ambitions, he said he has the skill of communicating clearly. He compared himself to Charlie Brown's teacher. "Wah wah wah wah. It all sounds the same, and nobody can understand what they’re saying. Nobody says that about me,” he said.

When questioned if his sometimes blunt language in public and brusque manner makes him a bully and inappropriate for a leader,  Christie said it makes him a fighter. "A bully is abusive. A fighter is someone who is willing to mix it up to defend his or her view."

He would not speculate about his own future as governor of New Jersey should he decide to make a run for president in 2016. "That's a decision I have make further down the road...if I were to make that decision now it would be stupid."

He also revealed in the interview that he is "more than half way" to his weight loss goal.
