Following a day in which he was criticized by New Jersey Democrats for attending yet another out-of-state political event, a late arriving Christie joked that while the United States may have border sercuity issues, New York is secure because it is "still protected by that cross-town traffic" reports the Star Ledger.

Addressing a crowd of potential financial contributors to the Romney campaign, Christie said, "I'm confident that message of hope and optimism and belief in the American free enterprise system and American entrepreneurship will make this the greatest economy the world has ever known — that message will be the winning message this November."

Christie told donors, including Jets owner Woody Johnson, that campaign dollars would be "used well and used effectively” and encouraged them to "recommit today to the next five months of effort.”

New Jersey Assemblyman John Wisniewski yesterday held a press conference to bash Christie's out-of-state travel. “Governor Christie’s frequent campaign stops on behalf of national Republicans are making it clear that he is focused on doing what is best for his political party and his own national reputation, rather than what is best for the Garden State,” said the Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic Party.
