Chris Christie Vetoes Early Voting Measure
Gov. Chris Christie has said no to early voting in New Jersey.
Christie on Thursday vetoed a bill to set up in-person early voting at up to seven locations in each county during a 14-day period before elections.
Christie says at an estimated $25 million in the first year, it would have been too expensive.
He also notes that New Jersey has a vote-by-mail program that allows people to cast ballots before Election Day.
U.S. Rep. Rush Holt says that one-day-only voting can be a problem and is pledging to push a federal law to allow early voting.
It's already available in 32 other states.
