One person is dead in a crash involving a school bus in Cumberland County on Thursday morning.

New Jersey State Police stated a Toyota Rav 4 and a school bus with children on board overturned in the 800 block of Commerce Street (Route 49)  in Fairfield around 7:42 a.m. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene according to police.

Several of the children were taken to Inspira Medical Center for minor injuries while one adult was taken to Cooper Medical Center for serious injuries.

6 ABC reports the children were headed to Pineland Learning Center in Vineland.

New Jersey Traffic South reported Route 49 was closed in both directions for the cleanup and investigation of the accident.

According to its website, Pineland Learning Center (PLC) is an accredited day school serving students age 5-21 with behavioral, social, emotional and academic challenges from throughout southern New Jersey.
