Beer Pong Championship Set for Atlantic City

The world championship of beer pong will be held in Atlantic City starting on Sunday.

The World Pong Tour is having its 4th annual championship at the Golden Nugget Atlantic City from June 24 to 26. Teams from around the country will vie for a $20,000 top prize.

From its roots in frat houses and college parties, beer pong has become a professional competition. Played by tossing a ping pong ball into an opposing team's cups arranged at the end of a 9-foot long table, organizers say the game is now known more as a competitive sport of skill and concentration.

The tournament uses cups filled with water instead of beer.
