Paulsboro police officer Nicole Thigpen was called to a house fire and learned on the way it was her own home reports the South Jersey Times. When she and other first responders arrived, they found the Democrat dousing the flames with a garden hose preventing further damage to the home.

The deputy Assembly speaker was visiting with his father, who lives behind Thigpen's home, when he and his brother Ted saw smoke & flames. They ran to the home and picked up the hose lying on the ground.

The fire was determined to be electrical.

“I just think it’s something that anyone would do. Anyone in my position would have done the same thing," Burzichelli told the South Jersey Times. Thigpen disagreed and thought it "a big deal" that the brothers took action.
