Assemblyman Bramnick does stand-up comedy at Republican Convention

BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- One politician doesn't mind if you call his talk outside the Republican National Convention a joke.

New Jersey Assemblyman Jon Bramnick was giving a standup routine on Tuesday, after all.

Speaking behind a lectern, Bramnick said the first ethics rule for New Jersey politicians is never to take money in an envelope. "I never take the envelope," he said.

Bramnick was serious when he mentioned he was considering running for governor next year, but he added a punchline. He said he's using SlimFast to lose weight for the job -- and adding scoops of ice cream to it.

He estimated that about 100 people were in the crowd at a Beachwood, Ohio, restaurant.

The event was a $50 per person fundraiser for his campaign and other Republican Assembly candidates.
