NEW JERSEY 101.5
A Republican state lawmaker who narrowly lost his re-election bid has formally requested a recount.
Assemblyman John Amodeo
Democrat Vince Mazzeo beat Assemblyman John Amodeo by 40 votes, following a count of provisional ballots cast in the 2nd District Assembly race. More than 101,000 votes were cast overall.
Amodeo, who has served three terms, filed his recount request on Wednesday. It came one day after the results were certified by the Atlantic County Clerk's Office.
Democrats will maintain a 48-32 majority in the Assembly if Mazzeo's victory is confirmed.
