Amodeo Defeated in Provisional Ballot Count
NEW JERSEY 101.5
A Democrat has beaten an incumbent Republican following a count of provisional ballots cast in southern New Jersey's 2nd District Assembly race.
Assemblyman John Amodeo
Vince Mazzeo beat Assemblyman John Amodeo by 40 votes. The Atlantic County Clerk's Office certified the results on Tuesday afternoon.
Amodeo can contest the election or request a recount, but has not yet decided whether he will make either move. Amodeo told The Press of Atlantic City he'll study the numbers before making a final decision.
Mazzeo says he's glad it's over.
Democrats will maintain a 48-32 majority in the Assembly when Mazzeo takes office.
