This is the terrible but funny version of "O Holy Night" you heard on the air earlier today. It's been around for a long time, and no one ever seems to know who really recorded it. The first time I heard about it was in 2004 when it was given to me on an old fashioned cassette. I was told it was an audition tape from the guy's local church.

Somebody who didn't realize he couldn't sing had recently given it to their choir director in hopes of joining. Obviously not true, as we soon learned this was even older than 2004.

Dozens of people have claimed to be the person on the recording, but no one really knows for sure. The most definitive answer might be this one from a gentleman by the name Steve Mauldin. A few years back Steve tried to put this whole thing to rest, claiming proof that he was indeed the original 'bad singer'. Rumors persist.
