Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae announced Wednesday that 50-year-old Frank Bortle of Vineland has pleaded guilty to murder in the February 2008 slaying of 35-year-old Sharon Bortle. He faces a sentence of 30 years in prison without the chance for parole when he's sentenced Oct. 12.

Sharon Bortle, an elementary school teacher, was shot in the neck shortly after she had arrived to pick up the couple's then 9-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter. Frank Bortle then shot himself, but survived his wounds.

The Bortles were in the process of getting a divorce at the time of the shooting.
