State police say Trooper Jaime Ablett from the Atlantic City Marine Station was driving home from work when he came upon the accident around 5:10 p.m. Friday and saw a man screaming. Ablett was westbound on Route 30 in Absecon at the time.

Ablett then entered the water and was joined by Luis Roselli of Gibbsboro. They entered the submerged vehicle and pulled out two unresponsive men, but a woman remained trapped because she couldn't unhook her seatbelt.

Emergency responders gave Roselli a knife that he used to cut the seatbelt. Ablett and Roselli then pulled her from the vehicle.
