This will be the team's 13th year of walking for a cure, having raised over $270,000, which puts them as the top fundraisers in New Jersey for juvenile diabetes.  All proceeds go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, where 80% of money raised goes towards the cause.

The Kovacs Family Team, which is compromised of family and friends, was formed 13 years ago when New Jersey native, Courtney Kovacs, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

Courtney, now in her senior year of high school, has persevered through the illness and plans to study to become a nurse practitioner in the field of Diabetes Endocrinology when she attends college next fall.

One of the team's top fundraisers is Joann Spera, who was interviewed for a NJ 101.5 story on this cause last year.  This will be her 12th year on the Kovacs Family Team, where she raised over $10,000 alone.

The annual Walk For Diabetes takes place on Sunday, September 30th at Raritan Valley Community College, from 9:30AM till 11:00AM.
