The Bus Boys owe a great deal of their popularity to Eddie Murphy. The group formed in Los Angeles in the late 70s, but enjoyed their biggest success when they appeared on the soundtrack of 48 Hours, Eddie Murphy’s film with Nick Nolte. Two of their songs were featured in the film; "New Shoes," and the song I requested of Big Joe, “The Boys Are Back In Town.” They wound up opening up for Murphy on his “Delirious” stand-up tour, performed on Saturday Night Live, and had their only chart hit, “Cleaning Up The Town” on the Ghostbusters II soundtrack.

Despite all that exposure (and success), Big Joe refused to play my request.
