The Burlington County Health Department is looking for a woman that rescued a raccoon last week from a busy intersection and has since tested positive for rabies.
At least 10 cases of rabies have been reported in Middlesex County in recent weeks, but numerous cases of the deadly disease have also been confirmed all over the Garden State since the beginning of the year.
Rabid animals are counted by the hundreds each year in New Jersey. Nearly 50 cases were spotted in the first quarter of 2015, and that number is expected to shoot up during the warmer months.
