June 9th 1972 - Bruce Springsteen begins assembling the E Street Band after being signed to Columbia Records.   Various Asbury Park  ex-band members soon join

April 20th 1968 - Apple Music ran advertisements soliciting tapes from unknown artists, offering financial grants as part of a deal to release records on the Apple label. A young James Taylor was among many that  signed up.

April 6th 1968 - Pink Floyd announced founder Syd Barrett had officially left the group. Barrett was suffering from psychiatric disorders compounded by drug use.

March 9th 1969 - CBS cancels The Smothers Brothers' Comedy Hour, a variety show notable for its satiric humor and musical appearances by the Beatles, the Doors, and the Who. The program came under fire when guest Joan Baez used her appearance to

February 17th 1967 - The Beatles started recording a new John Lennon song 'Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite' at Abbey Road studios, London. John's lyrics for the song came almost entirely from an antique poster advertising a circus performance scheduled to take place in Rochdale, Lancashire, in February 1843.

January 7th 1964 - The Beatles record a session for the BBC Saturday Club program, during which they make their only known recording of the Chuck Berry song "Johnnie B. Goode."
