PENNSVILLE — What could have been a scary situation for a Pennsville family ended with a happy ending after a woman gave birth to a baby girl in the family's bathroom.

Pennsville Police Chief Allen G. Cummings said his officers responded to a cardiac arrest call on Sunday night. When they arrived at the home they were met at the home by the woman's husband, who said the baby was not breathing at first, but had since started breathing on its own.

Cummings said the woman had been due to deliver Sunday — but didn't seem to need to go to the hospital until the baby arrived quickly.

First-responders took the woman and her child to Inspira Medical Center Woodbury for further treatment. "The baby is healthy, the mother is fine, everybody is good," Cummings said.
